Appleton Family Ministries

Focusing on children

For 140 years Appleton has been a diocesan ministry with a focus on children.  Appleton Family Ministries was begun in Macon as a home for orphans of Confederate soldiers and changed with the times to becomegroup homesserving various needs and an outdoor therapeutic center. It now operates as an after-school program for at-risk children and a mentoring program for their parents.  AFM has also provided funding for special projects by application.
 
Donations for this unique ministry may be made payable to the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta marked for "Appleton Family Ministries." A special offering for Appleton Family Ministries to be taken in all churches "on Thanksgiving Day or between the Sundays preceding and following Thanksgiving Day, both inclusive" is required by diocesan Canon 24 .
