Cathedral offers Easter service to homeless
by Ann Fowler
Feet on the Streets, an outreach ministry of the Cathedral of St. Philip, will conduct an outdoor Easter service for downtown Atlanta's homeless residents at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23.
Feet on the Streets, an outreach ministry of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip, will hold an outdoor service of the Holy Eucharist at 2 p.m., Easter Sunday, March 23, on the corner of Peachtree and Garnett streets in downtown Atlanta.
The service will be in a Lanier Parking Systems lot at the corner of Peachtree and Garnett streets (zip code 30303). The site is behind the Gateway Center, a shelter and focal point of services for the homeless and those living in extreme poverty.
Sandwiches, Easter eggs, gift baskets and bottled water will be handed out to participants after the outdoor Eucharist.
Volunteers will meet to prepare for the event at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, in Child Hall of the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road, Atlanta 30305. They'll be making sandwiches, dyeing eggs, and preparing gift baskets for the participants.
The Rev. Ed Fuller, a deacon at the Cathedral, encouraged all interested volunteers to "join us on the streets as we take the blessings and sacraments of our church to our brothers and sisters."
