Clergy Study Day on Stewardship

Clergy Study Day on Stewardship

Join us on June 14th from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 306 Peyton Road SW, Atlanta GA  30311 for Clergy Study Day on Stewardship.  You will learn ways to help members of your congregation connect their faith and finance.  We will explore why it is important, as members of the clergy, to help parishioners understand how to make wise financial decisions. We will provide you with resources to help your parishioners be wise with money, resulting in increased confidence as they feel financially secure, while making decisions that align with their values. Increased confidence will help give them more freedom to be generous with their time and money, which will in turn help strengthen the communities where they live and serve.  Some topics to be covered are:

Stewardship of People:   Canon John Thompson-Quartey, Canon for Ministry Development and Congregational Vitality will lead us in exploring some challenges to parish ministry such as; lack of volunteers, lack of enthusiasm, or lack of funds. This session will focus on “raising people” as a resource for congregational development.  We will also explore the idea of personal invitation, using Jesus’s example in John’s Gospel.

Major Gifts: Tammy Pallott will present a comprehensive 8-step strategy for major gifts – including how to identify and cultivate major donors and how to ask for a major gift.

Planned Giving:  Lindsey Hardegree from the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia will discuss the what, why, and how for planned giving in your parish. What is planned giving, why should it be a priority for your parish, and how can ECF help you administer a planned giving program that will benefit both your parish and the poor and oppressed throughout our Diocese for years to come?
